Free Health Screening Offered to Area Veterans March 21
WASHINGTON, March 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Legion will offer a free health screening for veterans during its 51st annual Washington Conference at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel.
Medical staff from the D.C. VA Medical Center will conduct the screening from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 21, inside the hotel located at 999 9th St. NW (two blocks from the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro stop).
Services provided at the screening include blood pressure and cholesterol checks, general VA benefits information, women's health services, health-care eligibility/enrollment, information on filing VA claims, and voluntary service opportunities at the D.C. VA Medical Center.
A mobile vet center van will also be stationed across from the Renaissance Hotel in the parking lot.
"The American Legion encourages all veterans to participate in this free screening," said Jacob Gadd, a deputy director with the Legion's veterans affairs & rehabilitation division. "We want to recruit as many veterans in the metro area as we can, so they can take advantage of the free health screening and get information about VA benefits and services."
