Throughout the weekend, there will be "creation stations" with the Center's program partners featuring activities for all ages, including: Blind Taste Testing with Chef Jeff Venier, Character Masks with the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, an interactive dance booth presented by the Pacific Symphony in honor of the ReRite of Spring, Discover Your Inner Filmmaker with Peace in Motion, Turasa Yoga Game with Smiling Monkey Yoga, Seed Balls & Fort Building with The Ecology Center, Cards for Hope with The Uni High Care Project and Welcome to America Cards with the Tiyya Foundation, and much more!
All weekend long, there will also be activity stations to benefit Human Options, a local domestic violence agency; the Tiyya Foundation, which provides basic necessities for refugees and displaced American families; and Families Forward, an organization offering aid to homeless and low-income families in Orange County.
"There is just so much to celebrate about the past three years," said Executive Director Rebecca Hendrickson, "unbelievable program growth, rewarding partnerships, and memorable visits by visionary speakers like the Dalai Lama and Jane Goodall. For our team, it is the relationships we have built with the participating families that mean the most to us. All the successes of the past three years have affirmed that there is an engaged community in Orange County that believes in the potential for a better world and has taken the responsibility for building it into their own hands."
Over the past three years the Center for Living Peace has seen its programs and audience grow exponentially. In 2010, the Center hosted about 30 events per month, now they host 100 events each month, with 1,000 attendees. Their audience has doubled every year since they opened—showing that a center whose aim is to promote peace and wellbeing is clearly has a place, and is filling a need in Southern California.
