Free Dental Services to be Provided to 100 Tucson Children
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- United Concordia Dental, one of the nation's largest dental insurers, is partnering with the YMCA of Southern Arizona, Southern Arizona Dental Society and the Arizona Dental Foundation to provide free dental services to 100 children in the Tucson area on Friday, June 10.
"For the past eight years, we've been helping promote dental health awareness in the communities we serve," said Woodrow Greene, United Concordia Dental, community outreach coordinator. "Through events like this one, we are helping deliver free dental care to children with minimal or no insurance."
Children will receive free dental screenings and fluoride varnishes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lohse Family YMCA at 60 W. Alameda St. in Tucson. Children with the most pressing dental needs will be directed to follow-up care.
"With looming cuts to KidsCare and the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), this service will be critical to meeting the needs of our children," said Annemarie Medina, corporate health and wellness director for the YMCA of Southern Arizona.
The importance of good oral hygiene, including proper brushing and flossing, will also be discussed with the children during the event.
