Free Admission, Pie, Presidents and Talks on President's Day at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library
Highlight of the day is a distinguished panel of former White Houses senior aides who created the model for "The Effective Use of the President's Time."
YORBA LINDA, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- President's Day will be celebrated at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library on Monday February 15 with a compelling free special event featuring a distinctive panel of veteran White House Oval Office staff who created the model for managing of the President's time – a model that has been used by all Presidents since.
The panel discussion, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., takes place in the White House East Room and features former members of President Nixon's Oval Office staff.
- Steve Bull, former Assistant to the President "How the President's schedule was maintained and managed"
- Dwight Chapin, former Senior Assistant to the President "Management of the President's time"
- Larry Higby, former Assistant to the White House Chief-of-Staff "The role of the President's chief-of-staff"
- Ronald H. Walker, first head of the White House Office of Presidential Advance "White House advance operations and how they supported presidential policy initiatives"
These four White House insiders established the structure of the President's daily schedule and use of his time, which every President has used since the Nixon Administration.
"This is the first time a discussion of this nature has ever taken place," said Ronald H. Walker, a panel member and now President of the Foundation.
The panel discussion, Walker says, "will be highly informative and fascinating. Guests will hear those who were closest to the President reveal how he was scheduled, briefed, advanced and moved through his daily meetings and events at the White House and around the world, as well as how his private time was established."
The President's Day forum is the second in a year-long series of the Nixon Legacy Forums celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Richard Nixon Presidential Library.
The free admission President's Day event begins at 10 a.m. with a mini-Mt. Rushmore of Presidential impersonators -- Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt -- greeting visitors and posing for pictures. The first 100 guests will receive free cherry pie. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Richard Nixon Presidential Library is located at 18001 Yorba Linda Boulevard, Yorba Linda, California 92886. The Library is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information visit www.nixonfoundation.org or call (714) 993-5075.
