Fred Jordan Mission's "Wheels Of Hope" Job Training Program Open House
LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Fred Jordan Mission's "Wheels of Hope" Job Training Program for Welding will hold its first Open House. This program provides job training for men and women, many of whom have been homeless, gang members, and ex-offenders.
Wheels of Hope is a ministry of Fred Jordan Mission, in partnership with Zambikes, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives in Africa through transportation solutions.
Wheels of Hope has provided FREE job training to more than 100 men and women, and they have been certified by the American Welding Society. Fully 90% of the graduates have found employment.
During their training, students build bicycle-drawn ambulances, that are shipped to Third World nations in Africa, thereby fulfilling the Wheels of Hope vision - - Changing Lives Here, Saving Lives There.
The U.S. Department of Labor estimates a welder shortage of at least 250,000 nationwide, which shows the importance of this job training program that gives valuable welding job skills to the poor and homeless on Skid Row, and at the same time, provides life-saving bicycle-drawn ambulances to transport sick and injured patients through remote, rugged terrain in Africa.
The homeless population in LA has jumped 12% in the last two years, driven in part by high unemployment. As a result, the number of tents and makeshift encampments occupied by homeless people has soared 85%.
Come tour this unique job training program that is offered FREE to the participants, that has not taken even one penny from the government, but has trained, certified, and helped hundreds find employment.
Hear firsthand accounts from the graduates about how the Wheels of Hope Job Training Program has helped change their lives.
