REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ohana Real Estate Investors, LLC (Ohana) has unveiled design plans and commenced construction for its Fred Couples Signature Golf Course at the Twin Dolphin Golf Club. The golf course is scheduled to open in late 2018 and is set within Twin Dolphin, a 1,400-acre master-planned community. Ocean views from every hole; desert and ocean vistas; canyon-like arroyos; and local flora form the character of the course and create a golf experience that pays tribute to the land and location.
Upon opening, the course will be the first Fred Couples Signature Golf Course in Los Cabos. Couples is working with Todd Eckenrode of Origins Golf Design, the architect of record.
Course Environment
"We want this to be a course that all players enjoy. It will vary in length with multiple sets of tees, undulating greens, dramatic elevation changes, impeccable fairways and natural bunkering," said Fred Couples.
Todd Eckenrode added, "We were meticulous in our mission to honor our surroundings. We're building around the land, using local materials whenever possible and integrating and preserving natural features such as rock outcroppings, mature flora and landforms like arroyos in the golf routing."
Rather than mass-grading and re-planting landscaped areas after the course is built, a sensitive clearing plan has been established, grading from the center lines out to the perimeter of each golf hole and leaving the surrounding native landscaping intact. A buffer will be left on the perimeter of each golf hole to protect the natural beauty along the edges. Golf and landscape irrigation will utilize non-potable water from on-site desalination and wastewater treatment facilities.
Course and Club Amenities
"The Twin Dolphin Golf Club will reinvent the typical golf experience with unexpected amenities at every turn," said Neil Johnson, director of residential real estate, Ohana Real Estate Investors. "We are bringing the clubhouse experience onto the course and changing the way amenities are experienced. On-course amenities will include food and drink options that will be available in new and very exciting concepts offering indoor-outdoor dining and relaxation areas. The buildings will have a residential feel and will be something that people who are not even playing golf will want to tag along and experience."
Guests will enjoy highly personalized service, a full practice range, short-game practice chipping areas, practice putting greens, a full-service clubhouse, on-course amenities, caddies and on-course service staff, and a state-of-the-art maintenance facility.
Practice facilities will include individual hitting stations with personalized laser-measured yardages to target greens. Each hitting station will be equipped with player amenities, and state-of-the-art instruction video and computer systems will be available to guests as part of the instructional program.
The course will be available to residential owners within the Twin Dolphin community, such as at Maravilla Los Cabos and Montage Residences Los Cabos, as well as to guests at Montage Los Cabos.
