FRC: U.S. Supreme Court Allows Barbaric Practice of Abortions on 20 Week Old Pain-Capable Babies to Continue

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Arina Grossu, director of the Center for Human Dignity at the Family Research Council (FRC), released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked Arizona from enforcing a ban on most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy (Arizona H.B. 2036):

"The U.S. Supreme Court has placed pain-capable unborn babies and vulnerable women in danger by refusing to reinstate a law that is grounded in the latest science and in common sense. There is substantial medical and scientific evidence that unborn children can feel pain by 20 weeks after fertilization.

"We should all agree that aborting children at 20 weeks when they can experience excruciating pain is inhumane. I urge the Supreme Court to consider fetal pain after 20 weeks in a new ruling. These children deserve to be protected under the law.

"Despite this deeply troubling decision, we will not stop until the barbaric and dangerous practice of killing pain-capable unborn babies is brought to an end," concluded Grossu.
