The events have been coordinated by Jeanne Monahan, Director of FRC's Center for Human Dignity.
"Women's health in the developing world, as well as here at home, is at risk because of abortion and abortion-related drugs. It is important that the clear medical science involved in these issues be described carefully and thoroughly, which is why Family Research Council and two of our international partners are holding these events for delegates to the U.N. conference on the status of women," Monahan said.
The workshops will feature respected physicians, scientists and health care experts, including: Donna Joan Harrison, M.D.; Julie Lynch McDonald, Pharm. D.; Priscilla Coleman, Ph.D.; and Martha Shuping, M.D.

Abortion proponents have had a longtime goal of disseminating chemical abortion overseas. Yet in truth, RU-486, which in the last ten years has been deadly for at least ten women in the U.S., will prove to be a disaster for women's health in less developed countries. Family Research Council, along with Seguro Sexo from Mexico, are co-sponsoring an NGO parallel event with the goal of educating women on the science behind chemical abortion and what this will mean for developing nations.

Abortion advocates try to depict a developing baby as a lifeless blob of tissue and the abortion procedure itself as a neutral, non-invasive surgery. Yet in truth, frequently women who undergo an abortion suffer profound loss and exhibit signs of post-traumatic syndrome. FRC, in conjunction with Genesis Life, Romania, will present "Women's Mental Health and Reproductive Issues." The workshop will cover the host of studies related to post-abortion syndrome and make the link between abortion and women's psychological health.
