WASHINGTON, Nov. 12, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Family Research Council (FRC) commended the U.S. Supreme Court for its decision today allowing the military to continue enforcing the 1993 law against homosexuality in the armed forces (usually referred to as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell").

U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Phillips ruled on September 9 in Log Cabin Republicans v. USA that the law is unconstitutional, and on October 12 she issued an injunction ordering the military to immediately stop enforcing the law worldwide. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a stay of the injunction to allow enforcement of the law to continue while the legal case is appealed, and today's ruling kept that stay in place.
Family Research Council President and Marine Corps veteran Tony Perkins issued the following statement:
"Judge Phillips has once again been rebuked for her efforts to anoint herself Commander-in-Chief. I am gratified that two higher courts have now recognized the importance of judicial deference to Congress, the President and military leaders in setting policy for the armed forces. I hope, and remain confident, that they will do the same in ruling on the merits of this case.
"Family Research Council will continue to defend the current law in all three branches of government, in order to protect against the threats to good order, morale, discipline and unit cohesion that would be posed by allowing open homosexuality in the military."
