FRC Action Calls on a Dozen House Members to Return Thousands of Dollars in Planned Parenthood PAC Contributions
WASHINGTON, July 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Family Research Council Action is calling on a dozen Members of the House of Representatives, 11 Democrats and one Republican, to return campaign contributions made by Planned Parenthood's PAC over the last two years. The request follows the release of information suggesting that Planned Parenthood has been involved in the illegal trafficking of body parts of aborted babies.
Eleven Democratic House Members accepted a total of $ 84,310 from Planned Parenthood's PAC since 2013. Democratic members include Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-1), Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-9), Ami Bera (CA-7), Pete Aguilar (CA-31), Raul Ruiz (CA-36), Scott Peters (CA-52), Gwen Graham (FL-2), Patrick Murphy (FL-18), Rick Nolan (MN-8), Sean Maloney (NY-18), and Brad Ashford (NE-2). Republican Richard Hanna (NY - 22) accepted $2,800.
Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins released the following statement:
"Planned Parenthood hasn't yet disclosed the amount of cash they've received in exchange for the selling of baby parts including heads, hearts, livers, and lungs. But we do know that Planned Parenthood's PAC has doled out $ 87,110 in campaign contributions to these dozen House Members.
"With Congress and at least five states launching investigations into these taxpayer-funded harvesters, the question is, will these Members of Congress give back the tainted money?
"Even Planned Parenthood advocates are expressing horror that the organization would manipulate the abortion procedure to yield the most marketable baby parts -- often at risk to women. Planned Parenthood knowingly changed medical protocol to scavenge baby parts.
"Planned Parenthood has long fought against late-term abortion bans. And now we know why. The earlier babies are aborted, the less profitable their organs are.
"We call on these dozen House Members, and any other candidate running for elected office, to return these contributions and call on Planned Parenthood to disclose to taxpayers and Congress the full extent of their role in pain-capable abortions, baby organ harvesting, and partial-birth abortions," concluded Perkins.
