Frbiz Discuses HP Laptops
BEIJING, March 22 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Frbiz.com, one of China's leading B2B search platforms, discuses HP laptops
Frbiz reports that since 2007, Hewlett-Packard's laptops have drawn some consumer complaints. ESER (China), a laptop repair chain, is currently the largest specialized in-warranty laptop repair business. Its general manager said that in its monthly maintenance handling laptops, HP absolutely accounts for the largest share. In 2008 and 2009, especially in the summer, the problem for HP laptops is basically that card temperature is too high, so the motherboard burns.
Frbiz has discovered that at present, there have been more and more quality problems with laptops from giants such as HP, Dell, and ASUS, even though they have their own production bases. Especially for the individual series of low-end products and OEM products, from R&D, design and parts procurement until final production, other companies are responsible for quality assurance.
These manufacturers, in order to reduce costs, often tend to choose cheaper materials and accessories. Product design flaws are also appearing quite frequently. It is true that the new products should go through prototype testing before hitting the market, but in a detection period of a few days it is difficult to make these design flaws and quality defects thoroughly exposed.
Clearly, as a PC giant, Hewlett-Packard is also not an exception to this rule. On the contrary, due to its large market share, its incidence of such issues is even higher.
Hewlett-Packard was founded in 1939, and has been successful in China for twenty years. Hewlett-Packard's 2009 Q4 profit reports show that in the China market, HP's overall sales year-on-year rose 20%, while PC sales were up 40%, an increase greater than all of its competitors.
In the Chinese market, HP's biggest competitor, Lenovo (http://www.frbiz.com/catalog-06000000-1/Computer_Hardware_Software.html), after acquiring IBM's PC business, devised a new strategy that began to work and turn losses into gains. In addition, Acer's and Asustek's market shares have been climbing, and HP's old rival Dell has put in a great effort to conquer Chinese the market.
In Europe, the United States, and other developed countries, consumer electronics products sold are generally followed by a 15-day unconditional free return standard of service. However, as these European and American international brands enter the Chinese market, they have not introduced this service, instead offering only a 7-day unconditional return policy.
Frbiz speculates that with the continuing escalation of hardware technology, in order to seize market share, this may have to change. Rich products give consumers more choices, but there are other factors in consumers' decision making processes. Take the central processing unit (CPU) and graphics systems, for example: the introduction of a new generation of products has given users a more efficient and comfortable experience. However, with a corresponding increase in power consumption, how to cool effectively in a small space has become a problem for many firms.
Currently, laptops are subject to frequent failures, and the repair rate is high, which is precisely because the entire industry's rapid development has led to the majority of brand laptop having heat dissipation problems.
Frbiz comments that for increasing competition in the low threshold computer industry, technology and quality are not the only factors: integrity and high quality after-sales service are an important part of winning the trust of consumers.
