In January and February 2010, household appliances industry-wide sales income reached 171.1 billion yuan, up 33% year-on-year. The basic trend is of rapidly rising growth, with net profit increases of 65%. In the household electrical appliance industry (including small appliances) from January to February 2010, sales income was 111 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32%, and pre-tax profit was 4.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 65%. From January to February, the entire industry's gross margin was 13.27%, and net profit margin sales reached 3.32%. Raw materials prices have been rising since 2009, which has impacted industry profitability.
Overall, in the first quarter of 2010, business sales increased year-on-year very quickly. Air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, television sets and other large appliances performed especially well.
