Franklin Sports All-Star Prince Fielder Named All Star MVP Last Night; Milwaukee Slugger Has the Midas Touch Hitting Game Winning Three-Run Home Run Wearing Special Edition All-Star Gold-Trimmed Batting Glove in Tuesday's Mid-Summer Classic in Arizona
NEW YORK, July 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Milwaukee Brewers All-Star slugger Prince Fielder definitely had the "Midas Touch" in last night's (Tuesday, July 12) "Mid-Summer Classic," powering the National League to a 5-1 victory over the American League in Arizona. Fielder, wearing a special edition All-Star gold-trimmed batting glove made by Franklin Sports, the "Official Batting Glove of Major League Baseball," blasted a three-run home run in the fourth inning to give the N.L. the lead for good.
Entering the break, Fielder had amassed 22 home runs and 72 RBI so his power burst was no surprise.
The starting first baseman was one of 15 Franklin All-Stars to wear the special edition glove, a list which also included fellow starters home run leader Jose Bautista (31) of Toronto, who tallied 7.4 million fan votes, the most of all time, Milwaukee teammate Rickie Weeks, Lance Berkman of St. Louis, Asdrubal Cabrera of Cleveland, Scott Rolen of Cincinnati and the 2010 AL MVP Josh Hamilton of Texas. The rest of the Franklin All-Star lineup included: 2010 NL MVP Joey Votto of Cincinnati, Miguel Cabrera of Detroit, Howard Kendrick of Los Angeles (A.L.), Yadier Molina of St. Louis, Justin Upton of Arizona, Paul Konerko of Chicago (A.L.), who was a "Final Vote" fan choice, and late additions Kevin Youkilis of Boston and Jhonny Peralta of Detroit.
Franklin President Larry Franklin joined the 15 "Shining Stars" in at the game.
