Francoise Gilot, Christine Lagarde & Alexandre de Juniac to celebrate Art in Movement at 2015 Trophee des Arts Gala
NEW YORK, Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Thursday, November 19, 2015, the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) will present acclaimed Franco-American artist Francoise Gilot with the 2015 Trophee des Arts and Air France-KLM Chairman & CEO Alexandre de Juniac with the 2015 Pilier d'Or at The Plaza hotel in New York.
"This year, we honor Art in Movement," explains FIAF President Marie-Monique Steckel. "Painter and author Francoise Gilot has put the wanderer at the heart of her paintings and of her own life, and it is no wonder that she calls New York and Paris her homes, while Alexandre de Juniac brought the Air France-KLM group to reinvent the art of travel. More over, Air France has always combined contemporary art and flying as a form of expression and elegance."
Attendees of the evening will include IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President & CEO Raymond L. Conner, NBC News and MSNBC correspondent Olivia Sterns, and New York street artist JonOne.
A special guest of Air France, JonOne has imagined a new creation and completely reworked the accent that characterizes the Air France logo. This unique work of art has been installed on one of Air France's Boeing 777. The aircraft, sporting this exceptional livery, will then fly off for the first time to New York, a legendary and historic route for Air France, and over the world for one year.
The Trophee des Arts distinguishes an artist who exemplifies FIAF's mission of French-American friendship and cross-cultural exchange. It has been bestowed upon French and American artists and cultural icons, including: Charlie Rose, Alain Ducasse, Marc Jacobs, James Ivory, Angelique Kidjo, and Philippe de Montebello.
The Pilier d'Or recognizes a leading business figure, diplomat or philanthropist for outstanding contributions to the French-American community. Former honorees include Pierre Bellon (Sodexo), Thierry Breton (ATOS), Paul Desmarais Jr. (Power Corporation of Canada), and Carlos Ghosn (Renault-Nissan Alliance).
