Franchise Looks to Future, Expands Ownership Team
Long-time Employee to Operate and Purchase Jupiter-based Leak Detection Franchise
JUPITER, Fla., Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- After nearly 20 years as a technician with the American Leak Detection franchise based in Jupiter, Ken Kanter bought a portion of the company and is now the acting Director of Operations. Co-owners Bill and Karen Peterson retain majority ownership and will have seats on the board as Kanter transitions into his new role as a full owner through an installment sale over the course of the next several years.
Kanter studied criminology at Florida Atlantic University, but after a few months in the field with American Leak Detection's infrared camera and other tools of the trade, he decided tracking down leaks was his future. Kanter enjoys working with customers and solving the problems that plumbers and other companies often miss.
"Ken is like a son to us and we could not be happier to have him as a partner," said Karen Peterson, franchise co-owner. "He was our first technician and has seen our business grow and thrive. We are confident that he will continue the success."
American Leak Detection of The Palm Beaches operates six service trucks that cover its vast service area over St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach counties. The team provides a variety of leak detection services including: pool and slab leak detection and repair as well as potable and "mystery leak" detections. The technicians use proprietary equipment and cutting-edge technology to find leaks without causing damage to customers' properties.
"We are glad to see how the Peterson's franchise has grown over the past 25 years," says Patrick DeSouza, President and CEO of American Leak Detection. "We look forward to seeing Ken carry on their success."
The franchise provides leak detection service for homes, businesses and municipalities. The territory covers about 1.8 million people in the West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Port St. Lucie and Fort Peirce communities.
