Four-Time Olympic Triathlete Hunter Kemper To Compete in Club Med Race Series Triathlon
MIAMI, Aug. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Club Med – the original all-inclusive resort company with 80 resorts around the world – is thrilled to announce Hunter Kemper, captain of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Triathlon Team, will participate in the Sept. 23 Race Series Triathlon at Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Not only is the legendary Kemper competing alongside resort guests and pro-athletes, but his expertise will also be showcased during elite training programs and Q&A sessions through the Club Med Racing Series – an innovative program offering dynamic sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and training camps on-site. As Club Med's flagship "premium sports" resort, Sandpiper Bay offers an unparalleled training environment through its top-notch Sports Academies, world-renowned coaching staff, and recently renovated facilities, creating the ideal balance between sports and the amenities of an all-inclusive resort for guests.
"I look forward to competing in the Sandpiper Bay Triathlon on Sept. 23 and using their state-of-the-art training facilities," said Hunter Kemper, Four-Time Olympic Triathlete. "Vacationing at Club Med Sandpiper Bay while I compete is going to be wonderful for my wife and three boys."
The Sept. 23 triathlon at Club Med Sandpiper Bay will be one of Kemper's first post-Olympic races after representing the U.S. in his fourth consecutive summer games in London. As one of the only two men in the world who has competed in all four Olympic Triathlon events, Kemper is a highly decorated athlete named the 2005 U.S. Olympic Committee Sportsman of the Year following Michael Phelps, Lance Armstrong and Michael Johnson. Kemper is also the only American male to be ranked No. 1 in the world by the International Triathlon Union.
Club Med Sandpiper Bay plays host to the Club Med Academies offering world-class training environments in tennis, golf and fitness with coaching from renowned experts in the sports industry. Coaches include Gabe Jaramillo, who trained tennis stars Andre Agassi and Monica Seles, and Brad Brewer, host of the Golf Channel's The Daily Brew. Sandpiper Bay facilities include 21 tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, a Tom Fazio II designed practice facility including a putting green and driving range, and a new pro-shop and clubhouse. Programs are customized for all skill levels from elite athletes to weekend warriors.
Club Med Sandpiper Bay helps athletes and aspiring athletes to rejuvenate after adrenaline-pumping sports training with the on-site Club Med Spa by L'Occitane – the first and only L'Occitane-branded spa in the U.S. The fully renovated resort is Club Med's only all-inclusive resort in the U.S., and features two new restaurants, Slice Bar & Lounge, four swimming pools including an infinity pool exclusively for adults and a certified lap pool. The resort also boasts conference and meeting facilities as well as a new waterfront wedding gazebo. Enhanced accommodations include expansive Deluxe Family Rooms with separate bedrooms and one-and-a-half bathrooms, allowing plenty of space for the entire family.
