Four businesses recognized by Capital BlueCross for excellence in worksite wellness
Bethany Children's Home, DENTSPLY International, Inc., Fortna Inc., and Rodale Inc. are all winners
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Capital BlueCross recognized four of its group customers with awards for exhibiting excellence in worksite wellness. The award winners were selected based on their innovativeness, creativity and implementation of programs that work to improve the health of their workforce.
The four 2012 Capital BlueCross Worksite Wellness Award recipients and their categories are: DENTSPLY International, Inc. of York (major segment, first place); Rodale Inc. of Emmaus (major segment, runner up); Fortna Inc. of Reading (large group); and Bethany Children's Home of Womelsdorf (small group).
"The greatest gift any company can give to their employees is one of good health and wellness," said Dr. Jennifer Chambers, Capital BlueCross vice president & chief medical officer. "That is why Capital BlueCross is extremely proud of this year's Worksite Wellness Award winners. They have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to improving the culture of health for their employees. These companies are role models for good health for others to follow."
Doctor Chambers said that Capital BlueCross recognizes every customer that participated in this program as a winner because of their commitment to employee health and wellness.
The awards were open to Capital BlueCross group customers who instituted a wellness program during 2011. A major eligibility requirement is that an employer completed the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) Employee Health Management Best Scorecard assessment. This assessment evaluates the effectiveness of employers' Employee Health Management programs based on the extent they incorporate best practices, or effective methods for garnering positive health outcomes.
Capital BlueCross was one of four companies in the United States, and the only health insurer, chosen for a pilot program to evaluate the success of employer group worksite wellness initiatives through HERO. The HERO scorecard is done in collaboration with Mercer, a leading global provider of health benefits consulting.
