Fountain Valley will also become the first school district in Orange County to engage Chevron Energy Solutions Envision program to improve the district's science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. Chevron will provide over 100 hours of teacher professional development and training, living labs that connect data from solar installations and building operations to a student-facing dashboard, and hands-on classroom science kits that help students learn about energy efficiency, solar energy and the science of energy.
The Fountain Valley School District selected Chevron Energy Solutions, a leader in delivering renewable and energy efficiency projects for local governments and educational institutions, to develop, design and construct the project.
"Our district's future is brighter because of this project," said Stephen McMahon, Assistant Superintendent of the Fountain Valley School District, "and we are grateful to Chevron Energy Solutions for their dedication and particular attentiveness to helping us meet our educational mission."
"We are proud to work with the Fountain Valley School District, which has demonstrated both fiscal responsibility by saving energy and money, and great vision by connecting this project to improve instruction in science and math," said Jim Davis, President of Chevron Energy Solutions.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 17 at 3:00 pm at the Talbert Middle School, 9101 Brabham Drive, Huntington Beach. The project is expected to be completed in May 2014.
