Founder Of Easy Taxi Is Honored Latin Trade's Young Leader Of The Year Award
Tallis Gomes receives the first-ever award given by the business publication to Latin American leaders under 40.
MIAMI, Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tallis Gomes, founder of Easy Taxi, is the new and final addition to the list of honorees of the 2015 BRAVO Business Awards. Latin Trade Group, the leading provider of information and business services to companies operating in Latin America and the Caribbean, officially announced the winner today.
"Tallis Gomes is the first person to receive the Young Leader of the Year Award, a new category of the BRAVO Business Awards which highlights the role of Latin Americans under 40, who are opening avenues for a brighter future in the region," Latin Trade's CEO, Rosemary Winters, said. Brazilian Tallis Gomes has made a successful business in the complex public transportation market of emerging cities.
He led Easy Taxi through difficult periods. Among many other obstacles, the company had to fend off the competition of powerful established taxi companies and of other firms that have copied its business model, or even solve mapping and communication issues in countries with poor internet infrastructures or weak addressing systems. Some of these challenges forced the company to completely revamp its business model shortly after it started, and it did, with success.
Latin Trade's editorial judges were particularly impressed by Easy Taxi's accelerated growth, but more so by some traits of its growth strategy. For instance, by the fact that the company was designed as a multilatina almost from the onset. In three years its operation reached 17 million users in 53 countries and the app is available in 11 languages. Judges highlighted the role Easy taxi has played in the adoption of smartphones, and the positive effect it has had on the environmental and security in the region.
"Clearly, Latin Trade is not honoring an app creator, but an entrepreneur that has changed the way in which users and taxi owners view public transportation," Rosemary Winters, said.
Tallis Gomes will be recognized at the inaugural session of the Young Leaders Forum, on October 28, 2015 in Miami. In the inaugural conference program Agents of Change, The New Face of Innovation and Talent, young leaders as well as corporate giants will discuss the future of Latin America, and the trendsetters who are leaving an indelible mark on business in the region. The Forum will feature a special keynote address from Gomes.
