Foundation Report Breaks Down Online In California Higher Ed

PASADENA, Calif., May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new report commissioned by The 20 Million Minds Foundation (20MM), authored by Phil Hill and Michael Feldstein of MindWires Consulting, The Right to Educational Access: Using Online Education to Address Bottleneck Courses in California,  provides a framework and set of recommendations that would help the state ensure students' right to educational access.

Severe cuts – including those to faculty jobs, course offerings, and student services endured by California's public colleges and universities – have created difficult barriers to students' successful completion of courses and degrees. As Governor Brown and the Legislature express interest in exploring how education technology can decrease students' time to degree completion and reduce costs, state and national attention has focused on how online education, in its many forms, can be leveraged for the benefit of students.
