Fotor Emerges as a Top Photo Editor in Windows 8 Store
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Fotor.com, a comprehensive online photo editor, announced that their app has taken the number one slot in the "what's hot" category in more than twenty countries in the Windows Store, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. Since its first release on December 4, 2012, the Windows Store has featured the popular photo editor in thirty-seven countries, and Fotor is now ranked within the top three photo apps across seventy-seven countries worldwide.
Fotor is feature-rich and has been redesigned for smooth integration with any Windows 8 device. More than a basic editing app for cropping and adjusting brightness, contrast, and saturation, Fotor also includes tilt-shift, 1-tap enhance, collage, text and more than sixty effects and borders. Fotor supports most file types, making it one of the only photo editors in the Windows Store to support a vast range of raw image files (RAW) for processing. All features have been optimized for touch screen capability.
The design team at Fotor collaborated with Microsoft to create a user experience that is fully integrated with the Windows 8 operating system, while also catering to the unique needs of their users. "We made the decision to keep the controls on the side where your hands grip the device," said product director James Wen at Fotor. "This design invites your photo to remain front and center and keeps your hands out of the way for a visually-rich user experience. Our goal was to create an app that is intuitive and easy-to-use so fotorians can forget that they are interacting with software and have fun with their photos."
"Windows has always been about giving developers the platform they need to build rich, compelling experiences for their customers," said Aidan Marcuss, Senior Director of Windows Core Marketing and Ecosystem at Microsoft. "Consumers and businesses alike will benefit from the new era of Windows that brings new experiences across PCs, laptops and tablets."
Fotor has been optimized for Windows 8 devices, including the Surface, Surface Pro, Ultra book, and Windows 8 desktop, with more on the way. "Our app is the fastest photo editor available, especially for mobile devices like the Surface," said Wen. "The entire pipeline and image processing algorithms were reconstructed to balance memory and speed." Fotor plans to release software that is compatible with the second generation of the Windows Phone mobile operating system from Microsoft, Windows Phone 8 (WP8) later this month.
Fotor was launched in May of 2012 and delivers powerful, easy-to-use photo editing tools across multiple platforms. Utilizing cloud computing to provide a suite of image processing tools ranging from basic cropping to HDR (High Dynamic Range) processing, Fotor has made photo editing accessible to everyday users through a clean, intuitive interface and workflow. Fotor strives to provide the highest quality tools in the most accessible manner and continues to pursue this goal with each new product and version release.
