GUIYANG, China, July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang 2018 was held in the city of Guiyang, in China's Guizhou province, from July 6 to July 8. On the evening of July 8, Guizhou Province CPC Committee Publicity Department deputy director and Guizhou Provincial People's Government Information Office director Ha Siting released the extensive international study Forty Years, Forty Words -- Guizhou Keywords to The World during the Beautiful China, Wonderful World-themed Eco Forum Global 10th Anniversary Celebration commemorating the 40th anniversary of the implementation of the country's reform and opening up policies. The study was jointly conducted by the Publicity Department of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee in concert with Global Times (huanqiu.com), a leading international media organization.
The Forty Years, Forty Words -- Guizhou Keywords to The World report was produced based on data that has been collected concerning the economic development of Guizhou during the 40 years since the Chinese economic reform was launched and complemented by in-depth interviews with experts who are knowledgeable about the growth that took place in the province during the period, with the aim of capturing the most recent impressions that Guizhou has made on the world in terms of 40 descriptive keywords across 10 categories that are representative of the province.
According to the report, Guizhou's GDP grew by a factor of 290.45 from 1978 to 2017, 30 percent higher than the country's growth overall. Over the past five years, 6.708 million residents in the province's rural areas have been pulled out of poverty. Mr. Ha indicated that the quantum leap forward that the province took in terms of development over the past 40 years reflects China's achievements as a result of the reform and opening-up policies and serves as a successful model that other regions across the country could emulate. Guizhou's efforts in keeping up with the times demonstrates how the province has taken great strides as China moves into the next phase in the implementation of the reform and opening-up policies and has transformed what was, not so far in the past, a disadvantaged region, into a vital and promising inland province.
