SAN DIEGO, Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In a charitable partnership with the premier real estate education company FortuneBuilders, The Mapex Foundation hosted a two-day Future FortuneBuilders event at Campion College in Kingston, Jamaica on September 22nd and 23rd.
Over 50 children from different parts of the Caribbean spent two days with Future FortuneBuilders speaker John 'J.P.' Servideo learning about how to improve their financial literacy with lessons on credit, savings and how to set and achieve their goals. The event comes at an imperative time, as today's generation will be the first in the country to have credit scores and reports.
The two-day financial literacy event was featured on Power 106, Jamaica's first 24/7 live broadcast and the country's most well-known station, allowing the session to reach an even larger audience across the Caribbean.
The Future FortuneBuilders workshop was followed by a three day assembly tour bringing hour-long inspiring speeches to over 600 students across Jamaica. Servideo and the Future FortuneBuilders team visited schools such as Monroe College, St. Elizabeth's and others located within the St. Elizabeth's Parish.
The event's key partner, The Mapex Foundation, and its founder Josef Powell, are committed to 'Building a Brighter Future' for teens. The Mapex Foundation focuses on a few fundamental initiatives including farming and sustainable development, healthcare and education. The global objective of The Mapex Foundation is in direct alignment with FortuneBuilders' latest philanthropic initiative, Future FortuneBuilders. Founded in 2014 by FortuneBuilders CEO Than Merrill and youth speaker J.P. Servideo, Future FortuneBuilders (FFB) was developed to help fill today's gap in financial literacy education.
Just last year, J.P. Servideo and Than Merrill co-authored "The High Schooler's Guide To Money," an Amazon best seller, in an attempt to bring their financial education curriculum to a larger audience.
Currently, Future FortuneBuilders is working to bring financial literacy education to teens aged 13-17 by hosting events across the US. This Jamaican partnership marks their first international financial literacy educational event.
