FortuneBuilders Brings Teen Financial Literacy Campaign to Houston
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- FortuneBuilders, the nation's leading real estate investing education company, launched their second Future FortuneBuilders initiative over the weekend in Houston, TX. The company's philanthropic arm, FortuneBuilders Gives, teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston and the Royal Stem Academy of Houston, to deliver scholarships to their 2-day financial literacy camp to local high school students of the area. The event was the second of their national initiative, Future FortuneBuilders (FFB), which aims to champion the cause of financial literacy through educational day camps for teens.
"We had another great FFB event this weekend in Houston," said Than Merrill, CEO of FortuneBuilders. "It's always a great experience when we get to see the students come out of the event excited to continue learning and preparing for their futures."
The 2-day Future FortuneBuilders day camp welcomed 50 local Houston students, ages 13 to 17, for a weekend of financial education. FortuneBuilders Gives was able to provide 10 scholarships to students of the event's partners, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston and the Royal Stem Academy, who were nominated by their teachers, parents and leaders. The remainder of the scholarships were given to teen relatives nominated by the students of FortuneBuilders' Mastery program.
"At every FFB event, we try and team up with local organizations to help underprivileged youth," said JP Servideo, FFB speaker and co-founder. "In Houston, we're thrilled to be working with the local Boys and Girls Club and Royal Stem Academy. It made the experience that much more rewarding."
Future FortuneBuilders was launched after a recent survey revealed that 84 percent of students ages 18-25 say that they needed financial management in high school, with a vast majority saying they wished they had courses on this subject available. Future FortuneBuilders seeks to fill this void by educating teens across the nation to realize their financial potential and prepare them for a successful future.
Houston's FFB event marks the second 2-day camp the organization has put on this year after its launch in Atlanta in January 2016. Many more events are slated to take place in cities across the nation, with the next scheduled to take place at FortuneBuilders Bootcamp Summit in San Francisco in March.
