Educator to be Inducted During 2012 NLN Education Summit
BALTIMORE, June 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fortis Vice President of Nursing Robert Anders, DrPH, CS, CNAA, FAAN, has been named to the National League for Nursing's (NLN) 2012 Academy of Nursing Education. The renowned educator will be inducted as a fellow Sept. 21 during the 2012 NLN Education Summit in Anaheim, Calif.
Recognized as leaders in nursing education, academy fellows are selected from nursing programs across the higher education spectrum and other organizations committed to health care.
"I am privileged and honored to have been selected as a member of this prestigious academy," Anders said. "I look forward to being inducted in September and working with my colleagues to prepare the next generation of nurses to advance our nation's health."
Anders was named to the sixth class of fellows following a competitive application process. In selecting fellows, the Academy of Nursing Education Review Panel considered applicants' contributions to innovative teaching and/or learning strategies, academic leadership, faculty development and promotion of public policy to advance nursing education, among other qualifications.
"NLN has set a gold standard for excellence in nursing education such that more and more of today's nurse educators aspire to fellowship in the academy," NLN president Judith A. Halstead, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF, noted when announcing the honorees.
The NLN established the Academy of Nursing Education in 2007 to foster excellence in nursing education by recognizing and capitalizing on the wisdom of outstanding nurse educators. Fellows support the organization's mission and core values, assist in preparing graduates from nursing programs, and serve as resources for new educators and those in clinical practice who hope to join nursing faculties.
