Former White House Attorney and Federal Prosecutor Joins McGuireWoods
RICHMOND, Va., June 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- McGuireWoods LLP announced today that John Adams, former associate counsel to President George W. Bush and former assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, has joined the firm as a partner. He practices from the Richmond and Washington, D.C., offices in the firm's growing Government, Regulatory and Criminal Investigations Department (GRCI). He counsels clients facing government investigations and handles complex litigation at the trial and appellate level.
Adams previously served as a law clerk to Associate Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court, and Circuit Judge David B. Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. At the White House, he focused primarily on matters arising out of the Department of Defense and State Department that implicated the Office of the President. In his most recent post as assistant U.S. attorney, he prosecuted a variety of federal crimes, including fraud and public corruption.
"John's breadth of experience, including the Supreme Court, the White House, and as a federal prosecutor, makes him uniquely qualified to advise our clients in the ever-increasing regulated environment," said Chuck McIntyre, chair of the firm's GRCI Department.
"John's arrival to McGuireWoods is a great day for our firm. He has experience at the highest levels of government, and we look forward to putting that experience to use for our clients," said Richard Cullen, chairman of McGuireWoods. "He is not only a talented lawyer with a brilliant legal mind, but he has the character to fit right in with our firm. We are glad he's joined us."
"I'm thrilled to join McGuireWoods," Adams said. "The firm has a long history of providing clients with exceptional legal services, and the firm has a clear vision for building on that history in the years to come. I look forward to being a part of that future."
