Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters Keynote Speaker at Build Up Greater Cleveland Annual Meeting
CLEVELAND, Aug. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters will be the keynote speaker at the Build Up Greater Cleveland (BUGC) Annual Meeting on Monday, August 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Windows on the River, 2000 Sycamore Street in the Flats. Her remarks will focus on the current state of the nation's transportation infrastructure as well as provide insight into current actions taking place in Washington, D.C., to authorize a new surface transportation bill.
As U.S. Transportation Secretary from 2006-2009, Peters led efforts to improve safety and performance of the nation's transportation system. She also worked to develop new policy and funding sources to support the U.S. transportation system in the 21st century.
In her 25 years in transportation and public policy, Peters has chartered infrastructure innovation from both the public and private sectors. Her method to developing market-based solutions is changing the way the U.S. approaches its infrastructure requirements.
