Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle Endorses Clyde Williams for Congress
NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Clyde Williams' congressional campaign from New York's 13th District announced the official endorsement of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.
Senator Daschle will host a fundraiser for Clyde on November 9, 2015 in Washington, D.C. Pete Rouse, who served as White House Chief of Staff and Counselor to President Obama, is also an official host for the event.
Senator Daschle said, "Having known Clyde Williams for more than 15 years, I can attest that he has what it takes to represent New York's 13th District with distinction. He will be an energetic fighter for his constituents and for the kind of values we need more of in the U.S. Congress."
Senator Daschle's career in public service spans over 25 years, including time in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Daschle served as the top Democrat in the Senate from 1995-2005.
Williams said, "I am honored that Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, one of our party's most well-respected public servants, has endorsed me so early in this race. In the 2008 Presidential race, then Senator Barack Obama also welcomed the early endorsement of Senator Daschle, long before many other party leaders expressed their public support for his winning campaign. On the heels of my announcement, I too welcome Senator Daschle's early endorsement, and his recognition that I am the best candidate to bring new energy, ideas and effective leadership to New York's 13th Congressional District."
Clyde Williams, a former advisor to President Clinton and Political Director for the Democratic National Committee under President Obama, announced his candidacy for Congress from NY-13 on October 19, 2015.
