Former SEC Commissioner Troy A. Paredes Joins StreetShares Board of Advisors

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Small business marketplace lender StreetShares today announced the appointment of Troy A. Paredes to its Board of Advisors, effective immediately. He joins former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, General George Casey, former Deputy Director of the CFPB, Raj Date, and SoFi founding team member, Pete Hartigan, on the Board of Advisors.

From 2008 until 2013, Mr. Paredes served as a Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), having been appointed by President George W. Bush. At the SEC, Mr. Paredes was an advocate for small business and for simplifying the complexities of securities law.

Mr. Paredes is the founder of Paredes Strategies LLC.  He also is currently the Distinguished Policy Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School. He is the author of numerous academic articles and is a co-author (beginning with the 4^th edition) of a multi-volume securities regulation treatise with Louis Loss and Joel Seligman.

Prior to being appointed SEC Commissioner, Mr. Paredes was a professor of law at Washington University in St. Louis and a professor of business (by courtesy) at Washington University's Olin Business School.

Mr. Paredes holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley and earned his J.D. from Yale Law School.
