Former Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell Joins ThinkEco Advisory Board
Rendell's Conservation Mission Aligns with ThinkEco's Energy-Saving Modlet Technology
NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ThinkEco, Inc., a New York City-based company that develops easy-to-use energy efficiency technologies for homes and businesses, announced that former Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell will join ThinkEco, Inc. as an advisory board member. Governor Rendell, who has a distinguished career in public service, will focus on expanding ThinkEco's activities with respect to public-private partnerships and investment in energy conservation matters. Governor Rendell served as the 45th Governor of Pennsylvania until his term ended last month.
"As Governor, one of my most significant achievements was the passage of Act 129, that among many things, created an aggressive mandate for conservation - one of the strongest in the country," said Governor Rendell. "I don't believe the increasing demand for energy in this world can be met just by increased production. Therefore, conservation is the key to the future. That's why I am so excited to actively support ThinkEco's mission to eliminate energy waste."
ThinkEco's patent-pending modlet — short for modern outlet — is an affordable energy-intelligent outlet that monitors appliance-level power use, then disconnects power to save energy, money, and CO2 when specific equipment isn't needed. The company's modlet technology can also be readily integrated into other existing building and energy management platforms.
"ThinkEco's modlet is being used by companies, non-profits and government offices across the country right now, saving them money and reducing their energy waste from plugged-in equipment," said Jun Shimada, CEO of ThinkEco, Inc. "The fact that Governor Rendell has joined our advisory board is a testament to our market-leading position and ability to execute on our mission to make energy efficiency attainable by everyone. We look forward to working with the Governor to maximize our conservation impact."
Rendell previously served as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, as Mayor of Philadelphia from 1992-2000, and as District Attorney of Philadelphia from 1978-1985. Governor Rendell currently serves as a partner of the Ballad Spahr law firm in Philadelphia, as a news analyst with NBC and MSNBC, and also teaches at the University of Pennsylvania.
