Former Ohio Deputy Treasurer To Plead Not Guilty To Federal Charges
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Amer Ahmad will voluntarily appear in U.S. District Court on Monday to plead not guilty to all charges against him and to deny wrongdoing during his time as Deputy Treasurer of the State of Ohio.
The indictment does not allege that there was any financial loss to the state treasury. Under Mr. Ahmad's stewardship, Ohio's investments were protected and stabilized.
Mr. Ahmad is an accomplished investment specialist who spent his career most recently as a public servant securing the investments of the State of Ohio and the City of Chicago where he served as Comptroller. He is an Akron-born Ohioan who received a bachelor's degree in political science from Columbia University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
It is important to note that an indictment is only a charge and it is not proof of guilt. Mr. Ahmad is confident that he will successfully defend against these charges.
