Former NFL Player Teams up with ATF Against Violent Crime
Super Bowl Champ Antonio Freeman Tapes Anti-violence PSAs
WASHINGTON, April 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Antonio Freeman, former wide receiver and Super Bowl champion for the Green Bay Packers recently visited the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) headquarters in Washington to tape a series of public service announcements (PSAs) for the agency.
Freeman met with ATF Acting Director B. Todd Jones to discuss the impact of gun crime and violent gangs in communities nationwide. Although he's retired from football now, Freeman said he hopes he can continue to have an impact on youth nationwide. He said discouraging youth from gang membership and violent crime is not enough. Everyone needs to be aware of the violence that's spread by criminal street gangs and the violence they create by obtaining firearms illegally.
Jones thanked Freeman for his willingness to work with ATF to encourage youth and young adults to report violent gun and gang crime anonymously to ATF's hotline at 1-800-ATF-GUNS.
Freeman and actor Clifton Powell donated their time to tape a series of PSAs, at ATF headquarters, that will be distributed nationwide throughout the summer months.
