Former NFL Linebacker Gives Back to Student Athletes
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2016 Thomas R. Williams started PURSUITS of Greatness 501(c)(3), a nonprofit organization that focuses on preparing student athletes for their professional life after college sports. His organization is able to do this from donations which in turn provide each student athlete who has exhausted all years of athletic eligibility with a custom tailored business suit. PURSUITS of Greatness also educates college athletes on the importance of "Dressing for Success." The ultimate goal is to provide this to all student athletes at every university.
As an author Thomas R. Williams continues to inspire and educate student athletes. His second book The Relentless Pursuit of Greatness is a playbook for all athletes. In this book Mr. Williams helps the reader answer the questions most athletes have after they finish playing their sport. This workbook is specifically structured and written to show athletes how to transition from being elite athletes to being elite in life. Upon completing The Relentless Pursuit of Greatness, the reader will be able to answer the question - "What's Next?"
After the release of his first book in 2014, "Permission to Dream" I Can, I Will,... I Did!, Thomas created the TRW Student Athlete Player Development Program, which is tailor-made to empower student-athletes so that they understand and can utilize their status as current athletes. Through customized presentations the focus for each session is to teach life skills to the athletes long before their transition. Thomas has taught his program at many universities and is excited about partnering with more.
Thomas R. Williams graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a degree in Sociology in 2008. During his years at USC (2003-2007), Thomas won 2 national championships and 3 Rose Bowls as a linebacker for the Trojans. Selected in the 2008 NFL draft, he went on to play 5 years in the NFL. After a career ending injury in 2012, Mr. Williams transitioned into life after sports.
As a retired NFL football player Thomas is a published author, international motivational speaker, guest lecturer and philanthropist. Mr. Williams continues to work with companies, the U.S. Military and individuals reminding them that they don't have to look for "GREATNESS", because it's already exists inside of them.
