Former National Foreign Trade Council President William A. Reinsch Joins Kelley Drye as Senior International Trade and Government Relations Advisor
WASHINGTON, June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that William A. Reinsch has joined the firm as senior international trade and government relations advisor. Mr. Reinsch brings over four decades of experience in designing and enforcing international trade policy both as a senior-level Capitol Hill staffer and as a leader in the private sector. Previously, Mr. Reinsch served as president of the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), a 200-member trade association dedicated to trade policy, export finance, international tax, and human resource issues.
"Bill's vast experience working on sophisticated trade policies and other legislative issues will make him an indispensable member of our international trade and government relations team," said Kathleen W. Cannon, managing partner of Kelley Drye's Washington, D.C. office. "Through his service on Capitol Hill, the Executive Branch and at the NFTC, Bill has established himself as a leader in trade policy, which puts him at the heart of the issues that are most important to our clients."
Prior to joining the NFTC, Mr. Reinsch served as the Under Secretary for Export Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce. As head of the Bureau of Export Administration (now the Bureau of Industry and Security), he administered and enforced the export control policies of the U.S. government, as well as its antiboycott laws. Mr. Reinsch was instrumental in modernizing the Export Administration Regulations to keep up with globalization and technology including high performance computers, microprocessors, and encryption. Subsequently, during his 15 year tenure at the NFTC, he concurrently served as a member of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.
Mr. Reinsch said, "It's a great honor for me to be joining Kelley Drye. I've known its members since my days on Capitol Hill and have the utmost respect for their integrity and the depth and breadth of their expertise. I look forward to being part of their team."
Mr. Reinsch testified 53 times before various committees of Congress and delivered more than 200 speeches during his tenure as Under Secretary of Commerce. Earlier in his career, Mr. Reinsch held senior legislative staff positions for Senator John D. Rockefeller IV and Senator John Heinz.
