Former Massachusetts Governor Deval L. Patrick, a long-time advocate for increasing patient access to quality healthcare, joins the board of directors of American Well. Governor Patrick is a Managing Director at Bain Capital, one of the world's foremost privately-held alternative investment firms, where he recently founded a new business focused on investments with significant social impact. He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, before being appointed Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights by President William J. Clinton. In his first bid for public office in 2006, Governor Patrick became the first African-American to lead the state government. During his two terms, he oversaw the expansion of affordable health care to more than 98 percent of Massachusetts residents.
