Former IRS Acting Commissioner Steven Miller Joins alliantgroup

HOUSTON, Jan. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- alliantgroup is proud to announce the appointment of former IRS Acting Commissioner, Steven T. Miller, as the firm's National Director of Tax. In a career devoted to government service, Miller has spent the last 25 years with the IRS, serving the agency in a number of diverse and increasingly important roles. In his new position, Miller will be leading alliantgroup's Washington National Office and expanding the scope of the firm's Tax Controversy Services practice. As a leader of the firm's TCS team, Miller will assist taxpayers on federal, state and international tax matters.

Miller joins former IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson at alliantgroup and brings with him immense experience at all levels of the Service. Prior to being appointed Acting IRS Commissioner in 2012, Miller served for several years as the Deputy Commissioner for Services and Enforcement, leading all IRS enforcement and service activity. Miller also served as the Commissioner of the Large and Mid-Size Business Division, overseeing IRS audits of large taxpayers and the IRS programs relating to offshore tax compliance and international tax law enforcement. As the Commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division, Miller supervised the IRS oversight of governments, tax exempt entities and retirement programs.
