Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey Will Discuss the Tea Party Movement and the Future of the Republican Party at the National Press Club on March 15
WASHINGTON, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, a prime mover behind the anti-tax tea party movement, will speak about the future of the Republican Party and the need to return to its roots in fiscal conservatism at a National Press Club luncheon on March 15, 2010.

Since retiring from Congress in 2003, he has been chairman of the conservative group FreedomWorks, which has played a major role in organizing the Tea Party movement.
Armey was a principle author of 1994's Contract with America, the campaign blueprint that helped Republicans take over the House of Representatives after 40 years of Democratic control. After becoming the No. 2 Republican in the House, he worked with President Bill Clinton to reform welfare and pass a balanced budget.
Armey, who has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Oklahoma, will speak about the next steps to bolster the movement for lower taxes and smaller government and to elect like-minded candidates in November 2010.
The National Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. and Armey's remarks will begin just after 1:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session.
