Former Florida Secretary of Health Joins Healthcare Innovations Firm

TAMPA, Fla., MIAMI, and WASHINGTON, May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- As Florida and federal health reform initiatives proceed down very different paths, the former Florida Secretary of Health and Surgeon General, Ana Viamonte Ros, M.D., joined the staff of Health Resources, Ltd. as Vice President of Development and Public Affairs.

Dr. Ros previously headed Florida's $3 billion Department of Health, with a staff of 17,000 and 300 sites in 67 counties.  She also developed 11 pilot sites, as part of Florida's first healthcare reform initiative. Health Resources is a 35 year old, privately-held company with an internationally-known team of health and business leaders.

A hands-on leader, who is fluent in three languages, Dr. Ros personally visited 67 health departments and 23 areas offices in her first 15 months as Secretary, building face-to-face relationships and welcoming staff views for improving services. She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, her Master of Public Health degree from Harvard and has traveled extensively on an international basis.
