Former Federal Prosecutor Andrew G. McBride Joins McGuireWoods as Washington Partner
Former Supreme Court Clerk Bolsters Firm's White-Collar Practice
WASHINGTON, May 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Andrew G. McBride, a former federal prosecutor and nationally recognized trial and appellate lawyer with more than two decades of experience representing corporate clients and individuals, has joined McGuireWoods' Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department as a partner in Washington, D.C.
McBride clerked on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. He served for three years in the Justice Department as an associate deputy attorney general and an assistant to the attorney general under Attorneys General Dick Thornburgh and William P. Barr. He then spent seven years as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, trying over 30 criminal and civil cases, including health care fraud, RICO cases, and money laundering and forfeiture proceedings. McBride also has argued more than 50 appeals in state and federal courts across the country.
In 20 years of private practice, McBride has successfully handled criminal and civil enforcement matters before the Department of Justice, the Department of Defense, the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, and state attorneys general and public utility commissions. His practice also includes class action defense. The National Law Journal named him a "Litigation Trailblazer" for his use of individual arbitration clauses to defeat class actions. He also has been recognized as one of "America's Leading Lawyers for Business" by Chambers USA.
