Former Federal Prosecutor and Experienced Chief Compliance Officer Michael Ward Joins TRACE International: TRACE expands West Coast presence
ANNAPOLIS, Md., Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TRACE International announced today that Michael Ward will join the organization's Advisory Practice as Senior Director of Compliance Solutions, effective November 17, 2014. Mr. Ward will be based in San Francisco, expanding TRACE's West Coast presence.
Mr. Ward is both a former federal prosecutor and an experienced chief compliance officer who has built and led award winning compliance programs at companies such as Target, McKesson, Adobe and Cisco Systems. Most recently, Mr. Ward was Deputy General Counsel and Vice President of Compliance Systems and Investigations with Cisco Systems in San Jose, California. Before joining Cisco, he was the Chief Compliance Officer at Adobe Systems and he had previously established and directed ethics and compliance programs at McKesson Corporation and Target Corporation.

As a chief compliance officer, Mr. Ward has built risk-based programs that help senior management prioritize their attention and limited program resources on the most significant risks through enterprise compliance risk assessments and other proactive tools. He has led internal investigations in Russia, China, India, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore and South Africa and other jurisdictions.
For over 16 years, Mr. Ward was an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice specializing in the prosecution of fraud, public corruption, insider trading, money laundering, price fixing and other white-collar crimes. Before entering public service, he was an attorney with Shearman & Sterling in both New York and San Francisco. He was judicial law clerk to the Chief Judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He graduated from George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. and is also a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Business and Economics.
