NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Timothy P. Murphy joins the Advisory Board of Global Data Sentinel (GDS) bringing high-level Cyber security expertise to the cybersecurity firm. He joins Ex-CIA Operative Valerie Plame who also sits on the GDS Board.
As a former Deputy Director of the FBI, Mr. Murphy is an expert in online security and has transitioned his considerable knowledge and expertise into the corporate arena. Most recently, he was appointed President of Thomson Reuters Specials Services, which specializes in working with the Government client base. Prior to his current role, Mr. Murphy was a Vice President for MacAndrews and Forbes in New York. He maintains close ties to the law enforcement and intelligence communities and is frequently consulted for his expertise in global cyber, counterterrorism, intelligence, criminal, and security issues and is a guest lecturer at colleges and universities on these issues. He is frequently called upon as an expert on these topics in the media.
"The Internet, social media and encryption have all become concerns to national security, particularly in terms of future cyber and terrorist attacks," says Mr. Murphy. Now more than ever, it is critical to work with companies engaged in cybersecurity to make the Internet more secure and prevent cyberattacks."
Global Data Sentinel (GDS) is a cybersecurity firm that addresses security at the data level, enabling Enterprise and the Government to secure their assets and meet regulatory compliance standards. GDS' solution works across cloud and corporate networks and supports a multitude of endpoint devices, including PCs, Macs, Smartphones and other mobile devices, such as medical equipment, printers/scanners, and other peripherals including IoT (Internet of Things). Unlike many cybersecurity solutions GDS doesn't focus on breach and crisis control, but rather negates any breach and any subsequent data loss by rendering the data inaccessible, whether it be a hacker, rouge employee, or someone using social engineering to access an email account or network.
Welcoming Timothy Murphy to the GDS team, joint founders of GDS John-Philip Galinski and Nigel Walker said that the appointment was further evidence of the company's commitment to delivering the highest possible levels of security solutions.
"It is clear that current methods of data security – including firewalls, usernames and passwords – all simply provide an illusion of protection and false sense of security," concludes Steven Fadem, GDS Chairman. "What we provide is no illusion – it is a one-stop secure platform making national security levels of data protection available and affordable."
