Former Epic Meal Time Stars Join Sportsmanias, Launch YouTube Campaign For Sunday's "Big Game"
Legendary YouTube Personalities to Build Sportsmanias' Social Media Presence Through Original Content and Collaboration with Most Popular YouTube Channels
MIAMI, Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sportsmanias.com, the leading real-time team news aggregator, announced today that Alex Perrault and Tyler Lemco, former personalities with YouTube cooking show Epic Meal Time, have joined the company to lead its social media team and launch Sportsmanias' brand new YouTube channel, creating original sports-based content laced with humor, sports rivalries, and notable Tweets. As part of the launch, Perrault and Lemco are unveiling a series of three exclusive videos to get football fans pumped up for Sunday's "Big Game."
In this YouTube video series, which kicks off today and will post additional videos on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31, Perrault and Lemco will bring fans a compilation of the different types of football diehards and other fans that are sure to appear at every party on Sunday, showcasing the likes of "The Tweeter," "The Couchhog" and more. Another video features a video game simulation of how the matchup between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks may transpire, with witty and hilarious commentary from the video's creators. The third video will drum up football fans' emotions with a montage of incredible football highlights.
This video series is the first campaign for Perrault and Lemco in their new roles as Co-Director of Social Media and Creative Writers for Sportsmanias, having both earned considerable internet fame with Epic Meal Time, a weekly show with more than six million subscribers that features a group of individuals making preposterously large meals out of various meats, candy, and usually bacon. Perrault was known for his character of "Muscle Glasses," while Lemco was easily recognizable by the long chain that always adorned his neck, a closely shaven beard, and a flat-brimmed hat.
After leaving Epic Meal Time in early 2013, Perrault wanted to continue his career with a sports-focused company, so he reached out to Sportsmanias and found his perfect match.
"There is a tremendous opportunity for sports companies to grow an audience and user base through YouTube – sports fans rely heavily on the Internet for sports content but there is a lack of such content on YouTube," said Perrault. "Epic Meal Time was successful because of characters like mine that made each video memorable; the content itself wasn't always the main hook."
Lemco also left Epic Meal Time in early 2013 and his social media expertise and passion for sports will complement Perrault in generating a loyal fan base for their edgy content. Their vision is to create unique and innovative sports-related custom content for the masses of sports fans to enjoy.
"When I was talking with Alex recently and he informed me of his new position with Sportsmanias, I knew I had to be a part of it," said Lemco. "We both bring unique skillsets to the brand, and I'm excited to help drive users and increase Sportsmanias' social media engagement. This new role will be a lot better for my health too."
Perrault and Lemco already have plans to produce a series of original video content for the upcoming Winter Olympics and FIFA World Cup. In addition to creating exclusive content for the Sportsmanias YouTube channel, Perrault and Lemco have already begun collaborating with other popular YouTube channels like Mike Chang's Six Pack Shortcuts, Brodie Smith and Guinness World Records to create engaging, wacky and even record-breaking content. The duo will manage Sportsmanias' Facebook and Twitter pages as well.
"Businesses that aren't frontrunners on social media simply won't survive, so we know we need to make a big impact," said Vicente J. Fernandez, Chief Content Officer and Co-Founder of Sportsmanias. "Alex and Tyler bring a sense of irreverence to our brand and they are also huge sports fans. Their work with Epic Meal Time is a classic case of viral marketing done right, and we know they have the knowledge to help us engage sports fans on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. We're anxious to see what they're capable of doing."
