Former Elastic Corporation warehouse in Columbiana to sell at auction
COLUMBIANA, Ala., March 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Columbiana facility that once served as home to Elastic Corporation of America will sell at auction Thursday, April 30, with John Dixon & Associates marketing the property and managing the event.
"This is a well-known location because as recently as 2006, Elastic Corporation of America was reportedly the 11th biggest employer in Shelby County. That year, the company closed the Columbiana facility and moved its operations to Central America. We're hoping that a new owner can once again make it a productive part of the local economy," said John Dixon, president of the auction company.
The facility, located at 455 Highway 70 in Columbiana, sits on 9.05 acres and has more than 292,000 square feet of floor space, with 9,748 square feet of office space. It is steel and masonry construction, with metal halide lighting and ceilings from 14 to 30 feet.
"Not so long ago, the plant employed at least 230 people. It has been sitting empty long enough, and it's time to get it back into the hands of someone with the resources and vision to establish it as the home for an existing or new company or companies," said Dixon.
The auction will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the property, with live and Internet simulcast bidding. Individuals seeking additional information on the property may visit johndixon.com or call 800-479-1763.
