Former Dell Executive Appointed Vice President, e-Commerce for GENCO ATC's Online Properties
Tom McElroy to lead online sales of secondary market inventory to both consumers and businesses
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- GENCO ATC, North America's second largest third-party logistics provider, has named former Dell executive, Tom McElroy, vice president, e-Commerce. McElroy will be responsible for marketing and online sales within GENCO ATC's liquidation services subsidiary, GENCO Marketplace, America's largest wholesale source for store returns, surplus, closeouts, and other secondary market inventory.
In this newly created role, McElroy will direct the expansion of GENCO ATC's online properties, including its B2C shopping site, NoBetterDeal.com, for value-conscious consumers, and its B2B site, GENCOMarketplace.com, where discount retailers purchase liquidation products in bulk for subsequent resale.
"To become great, you need great people. Tom comes to GENCO ATC with a track record of success in maximizing revenue and profit through product remarketing. He played key marketing and operations roles for DellOutlet.com, one of the largest and most successful online properties in the secondary market. We're excited to leverage Tom's experience as we continue our own journey to become the leading online channel for secondary market products," said Bob Auray, president of GENCO Marketplace.
"While the broad retail sector has suffered in the recent economic downturn, the discount retail channel is actually thriving as Americans seek to make their dollars count more. The natural evolution of the discount channel's growth is to have more of this product purchased online," said Auray. "Tom will help GENCO Marketplace exploit this significant market opportunity."
Prior to GENCO ATC, McElroy spent 14 years at Dell in leadership roles within business strategy, online, and customer segment marketing. Most recently, McElroy was responsible for the Dell Outlet Americas P&L, directing the marketing, online, and sales functions for Dell products sold into secondary markets. Before Dell Outlet, McElroy worked in Asia as regional director of global pricing and forecasting for the Dell Singapore Design Center.
McElroy holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan's Ross Business School and a B.S. in Finance from Miami University of Ohio.
