Former DA Michael Gressett's Lawsuit for Malicious Prosecution Set for Trial

OAKLAND, Calif., June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer release the following: U.S. Northern District Judge Edward Chen set Michael Gressett's case against Contra Costa County, Former District Attorney Robert Kochly, Former Contra Costa County Assistant Chief Deputy District Attorney Paul Sequeira, Former Contra Costa County Chief Deputy District Attorney Brian Baker; Chief Investigator Gene Greenwald; Darryl Jackson, Paul Mulligan for trial.  The trial will commence on May 4, 2015 almost seven years to the date after the false accusations of rape for which he was maliciously prosecuted. 

Before the case set for trial, Gressett's case against former judge and 2010 Contra Costa District Attorney candidate, Dan O'Malley, was resolved following a settlement conference.

Former Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney Michael Gressett filed a civil lawsuit for a politically motivated malicious prosecution, defamation and violation of his constitutional rights after his criminal case was dismissed because his due process rights were violated when Defendants withheld exculpatory evidence from a Grand Jury.  The criminal prosecution of Gressett was a hot button issue in the contentious Contra Costa County District Attorneys' race of 2010.
