Former Congressional Black Caucus Communications Director Ayofemi "Femi" Kirby Joins MWW As Account Supervisor, Crisis Management And Corporate Communications
Kirby Brings Expertise in Legislative and Nonprofit Affairs, Brand Development and Public Engagement
NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MWW (www.mww.com), one of the top-five global independent public relations firms, today announced that Ayofemi "Femi" Kirby has joined MWW as account supervisor in the firm's corporate communications practice. Kirby is an award-winning communications professional with years of cross-field experience that includes work at public, private and nonprofit practices. She will provide counsel and assist with day-to-day management of clients within the public and private sectors.

Prior to joining MWW, Kirby was the communications director for the Congressional Black Caucus, supporting two chairs and the CBC's 43 member offices with strategic communications and media relations. Kirby previously worked on Capitol Hill directing communications for Congressman Adam Smith (WA-09), ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee. The American University graduate also spent three years working for nonprofit organizations Generation Engage and Mobilize.org, where she empowered millennials across the country to become leaders in their communities.
Kirby has been awarded the American Express NGEN Fellowship and the New Leaders Council's "40 under 40" Media award. She was also honored as a "Community Hero" and as "One of the Seven Shaping Our Region" by The Charlotte Observer. In 2013, she was named a New Leader's Council Institute Fellow.
Kirby earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She graduated with a master's degree in public communications from American University, and holds a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University.
