Former Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to Address Participants at the 2011 ISOA Annual Summit

WASHINGTON, July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lieutenant General Robert Van Antwerp, recently retired Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), will give a keynote address at the 2011 ISOA Annual Summit of the Stability Operations Industry.

ISOA also announced today that early bird rates for the Summit have been extended until 31 August 2011.

General Van Antwerp's remarks will focus on "Challenges of Reconstruction in Iraq & Afghanistan: Improving public-private partnerships." Throughout his 40-year career at USACE, including his time as Commanding General, Van Antwerp was heavily involved in large-scale reconstruction projects in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as improving the disaster response system in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana.

USACE is pivotal in carrying out stabilization and reconstruction projects to strengthen U.S. national security initiatives, as well as assisting in and implementing national disaster reduction plans.

Currently, General Van Antwerp is Chief of Infrastructure and Executive Development at The Flippen Group.
