Former Colorado Governor Bill Owens Joins Greenberg Traurig's Denver Office

DENVER, Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Colorado Governor Bill Owens has joined the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP's Denver office as senior director in the Government Law & Policy Practice where he will advise and assist clients on capital and infrastructure projects as well as public policy matters.

Owens served two terms as Governor of Colorado, winning re-election by the largest margin in Colorado history. Owens was called "The Best Governor in America" in a cover story in National Review and was elected by his colleagues to serve as Chair of both the Western Governors Association and the Republican Governors Association. Owens also served as State Treasurer where he managed the State's $5 billion investment portfolio.

In addition to his public service, Owens has extensive experience in the private sector, in areas as diverse as energy, infrastructure, and water. He is presently on the Boards of several NYSE-listed companies and has been on the Boards of two companies prior to their public IPO. Owens began his business career on the Management Services staff at Touche Ross & Co. (today's Deloitte), followed by nearly a decade as Executive Director of the Colorado Petroleum Association/Executive Vice President of the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Association, which represented 400 energy companies in Colorado and the Rockies.

Owens earned a Master's Degree in Public Affairs at the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University. Owens is a Senior Fellow at the University of Denver's Institute for Public Policy Studies. He is not admitted to the practice of law.
