Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Joins Bailey & Glasser As Partner
CHARLESTON, W.Va., Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Assistant United States Attorney Steve Ruby has joined Bailey & Glasser LLP as a partner at the firm's Charleston, West Virginia, office.
At the U.S. Attorney's office, from 2009 to last month, Mr. Ruby led complex law enforcement investigations and prosecutions in several high-profile cases involving a wide range of criminal matters from extortion, public corruption to fraud, notably: prosecutions and a $209 million corporate settlement arising from the Upper Big Branch mine explosion, the investigation and prosecution of a California man who used death threats against seven prominent American business leaders and their families to attempt to extort $122 million, and seven convictions of elected officials for public corruption.
Ruby is a cum laude graduate of Duke University and graduated first in his class from the Washington and Lee University School of Law. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert B. King of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and, before his work as a prosecutor, practiced in Washington, D.C., handling complex civil and criminal matters for one of the nation's most highly regarded law firms.
