Former Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman and Robin Schepper of Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Initiative to Headline Bipartisan Policy Center Bridge-Builder Breakfast
WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) will host an event, "Back to School: How Public Policy is Affecting our Children's Diets," tomorrow, Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Robin Schepper, Executive Director of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Initiative, will give the keynote address at the event followed by a panel discussion moderated by former Agriculture Secretary and BPC Senior Fellow Dan Glickman.
Panelists will include Congressman Jim McGovern (D-MA); Scott Faber, Vice President of Federal Affairs at the Grocery Manufacturers Association; Barbara Belmont, Executive Director of the School Nutrition Association; and Charles Conner, President and CEO of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. Panelists will discuss how government and industry can work together to more effectively promote good nutrition in schools.
A series presented by the BPC, Bridge-Builder Breakfasts highlight institutions and individuals who are reaching across political lines to solve critical challenges facing the country. At a time when partisan conflicts often attract the most attention, the BPC is committed to creating a forum for those who, despite differing views, are willing to collaborate in order to advance the common good.
